The piano is a wonderful instrument for little fingers. Not only does piano study develop discipline, motor skills, and intelligence-- it lays the foundation for continued music appreciation and study.
There is no "right age" to begin piano lessons. Typically, 5 or 6 years old is the earliest age at which children's fingers-- and attention spans-- are ready to start private lessons. However, you know your child best! I accept beginning piano students between the ages of 5 and 10.
Piano lessons focus on developing technical and expressive skills through a variety of age-appropriate repertoire, including both classical music and popular music. Lessons also include a music theory component, which provides a foundation for continued exploration of music.
